Lion with a collar

"Radio tracking has been an essential tool for studying the Serengeti lions over the past 18 yrs."

"Started in 1966, the Serengeti Lion Project is one of the oldest and most extensive long-term studies of any animal species in the world."

"The Lion Project covers about 2,000 km2 and currently includes 20 lion prides. Each pride contains one collared female that is tracked from the ground every 2-3 days. In addition, all collared females are tracked from the air one day each month."
