The Gelada: 1

Posted by
: Helen : (is currently photographing in Melbourne, Australia) on 19 January 2018 in Animal & Insect.

I took this shot of the Gelada male in the wild up in the Simean Mountains, Ethiopia at 4200 mètres.

The gelada is often called the bleeding-heart monkey or the gelada baboon, it is a species of Old World monkey not a baboon. It is found only in the e Simien Mountains in the Ethiopian Highlands. Geladas are grazers and spend most of their time eating grass and ground plants.
