Tawny frogmouth: 1

Posted by
: Helen : (ATM Helen is photographing in, Australia) on 4 August 2015 in Animal & Insect.

The Tawny frogmouth (Podargus strigoides) is often mistaken for an owl. It is actually related to a nightjar. They are usually difficult to spot, but I was lucky today as I on my walk I spotted another photographer/bird watcher fixated on a tree.
Frogmouths blend in with the forest colours and look like broken eucalytus stumps when perched stiffly looking upwards on a log. Needless to say, I was happy to see this one staring down at me in the sunlight.

Canon EOS 5D Mark III 1/200 second F/4.5 ISO 100 200 mm

I will respond to your kind comments as soon as I can. Thanks for dropping by!
