Superb Fairy Wren 1

Posted by
: Helen : (who is currently photographing in, Australia) on 8 January 2015 in Animal & Insect.

Each summer I go to my special beach for a holiday. Around my campsite there are many birds. I must admit I prefer the wrens (Superb Fairy-wren) over the others. They are such small delicate birds and notoriously difficult to photograph, pausing little in their busy lives, as they move through the bushes chirping to keep connected to the family group.

This is a photo of an adult male Superb Fairy-wren. Males are blue in colour, and even more so during the breeding season. The females and young are are light brown colour like the dead foliage on the floor of the forest and therefore well camouflaged.

Canon EOS 5D Mark III 1/160 second F/4.0 ISO 125 200 mm

I will respond to your kind comments as soon as I can. Thanks for dropping by!
