*** NEW SERIES ***

I invite you to join me in another series. This time we are investigating a small picturesque village, Rocamadour, buried deep in the French country-side of Quercy. If you'd like to start at the beginning of the series CLICK HERE.

Next episode ...............................................

Now we turn to the 'Chapelle de Notre-Dame or the 'Chapel of Our Lady'. Here we discover the X11 century silver and walnut wood careved statue of the 'Black Virgin'.

Steeped in legend, it is said that miracles began to occur once it was discovered. It is also said that every time a miracle occurs, the bell in the steeple rings.

The 'Black Virgin' is said to have miraculously saved many ships at sea. Sailors come from afar, in particular from Brittany to ask for protection on their sea voyages. The destination is now so popular it is one of the major stops on the trail to Santiago de Compostela in Spain.
