*** NEW SERIES ***

I invite you to join me in another series. This time we are investigating a small picturesque village, Rocamadour, buried deep in the French country-side of Quercy.

Next episode ...............................................

We are approaching Rocamadour from the river canyon Alzou or the 'Dark Valley'. Before too long we come to the first fortification. In Middle Ages, times were dangerous. There were many disputes and invaders posing threats to pilgrims who trailed towards this town along St. James' pilgrimage route. We would have been challenged, as all pilgrims and merchants, at the gate by the soldiers dressed in protective armour.

This first gate gives us the first glimpse of the Sanctuary of Rocamadour towering far above. If the guards let us past, we will make our way into the beautiful village to find an inn to rest and refresh before making our way to seek the Sacred Stairway that will enable us to enter the holy sanctuary the next morning.

Just as lovely as I had hoped . . Time looks to move slowly there.

@Ronnie 2¢: There is no hurry here, apart from vying for the tourist dollar! A perfect retreat, as long as there isn't a battle!

beach from Oshawa, Ontario, Canada

great framing. I don't think the women might like the shot, however.
