*** SERIES CONTINUES ***
If you have just joined us we are on an Australian animal safari for this series. All these photos were taken at Healesville Sanctuary in Victoria, Australia. If you would like to return to the beginning of the series click here
Here are two photos of Tawny Frogmouths. I couldn't decide which photo to post, so I have posted both of them! This bird is often confused with an owl, but it is actually more closely related to a nightjar than an owl.
I have a pair of them living in the trees behind my house. I know they are there because I hear them 'hoo hooing' in the night; but I have never seen them. They are so very hard to see, due to the excellent camouflage their plumage provides. They sit with their heads pointing upward and the feathers look like the bark of the tree and their shape looks just like a broken tree branch.
I will respond to your kind comments as soon as I can. Thanks for dropping by!
