Australian animals - The Common Bronzewing

Posted by
: Helen : (who is currently photographing in, Australia) on 18 October 2014 in Animal & Insect.

If you have just joined us we are on an Australian animal safari for this series. All these photos were taken at Healesville Sanctuary in Victoria, Australia. If you would like to return to the beginning of the series click here

This photo is of a Common Bronzewing. The Common Bronzewing is a pigeon and being quite shy, it is not very easy to approach these birds to photograph them a close range. The plumage is attractive and it sports a quite remarkable flash of metallic-coloured feathers on its wing.

This looks beautiful..you have been able to capture the lovely colours on the wings..Looks more like Rainbowwing than Bronzewing!!

This is a new one to me - what a fascinating alternative to the common pigeon. Wiki says they are 'shy' so not like all the pigeons I know, then !
