*** SERIES CONTINUES ***
If you have just joined us we are on an Australian animal safari for this series. All these photos were taken at Healesville Sanctuary in Victoria, Australia. If you would like to return to the beginning of the series click here
This photo is of a pair of Australian Barn Owls. Barn Owls may be found all over the globe. The Australian Barn Owl has distinctive colouring with grey feathers instead of brown. These beautiful birds are rarely seen during daylight hours as they are nocturnal. They glide silently through the forests at night feeding on unsuspecting rodents and marsupials in the understory.
Whilst taking this photo of the female in a hollow log, I was absolutely stunned when a male appeared from the depths of the log behind the female and began mating with her.
I will respond to your kind comments as soon as I can. Thanks for dropping by!
