I took this photo in the State Library of Victoria in Melbourne, Australia. The library was hosting an exhibition of Victor Hugo's 'Les Misérables'. Victor Hugo’s original handwritten Les Misérables manuscript was on display as well as a few of his water colours and other art works. I was thrilled to have seen this French national treasure that is usually not on display in France. It is the first time the book has left Europe.
This statue was in the film and interactive section of the exhibition. The costumes from the recent from Les Misérables film starring Hugh Jackman.

What a remarkable presence this work has - like all fine art, it goes way beyond reality.
