Rider on the storm

Posted by
: Helen : (Helen is photographing in, Australia) on 15 July 2008 in Miscellaneous.

I had never heard of mammatus cloud before I looked at Peter Wharton's storm chasing photos (then looked up Google) some time back. Unbelievably, the other day whilst driving to the shopping centre, I spotted the most amazing mammatus clouds. By the time I sped home (I didn't do my shopping) it had died down, but I did snap one or two photos that showed the formations. Thanks Peter!
A couple more shots I caught before the clouds swept away:
Mammatus clouds 1
Mammatus clouds 2

FUJIFILM FinePix S9500 1/420 second F/3.5 ISO 100 12 mm

I will respond to your kind comments as soon as I can. Thanks for dropping by!

Black & white makes these clouds look very "evil" & threatening - the bird is a nice counterbalance - great shot! :-)

Indeed those clouds are amazing. And the bird provides a good point of interest.
