@uvaraj: Thank you Uvaraj. They are not only beautiful flowers, they also attract many birds and bees to our garden.

Manubhai from Bangalore, India

Nice flowers, what flower is this?

6 Nov 2009 5:35am

@Manubhai: People call them Bottlebrushes but they are from the genus Callistemon. Thanks for your interest!

Dimitrios from ATHENS, Greece

@Dimitrios: High praise! Thanks D.

John from Geneva, United States

Doh! It's a plant, moron!
Can you tell I know more about beer than I do plants?
Nice shot, Helen. Good depth of field to get all of the plant sharp, and blur the rest.
(It is a plant, right? I'm pretty sure this time...)

@John: Spot on John, it is a plant! :-)
Bottlebrushes (genus Callistemon) grow all over Australia. This one is in my garden and is a `Kings Park Special' and originates from Perth in Western Australia.

Chris Parr from Jefferson City, United States

This is fantastic. You've got me looking forward to the first freeze.

6 Nov 2009 6:52pm

@Chris Parr: Thanks Chris. Not quite sure about 'freeze'? It is Spring here now and 30°C today. We are speeding towards a hot summer. It doesn't freeze or snow in Melbourne. A a frost in winter is rare, but mostly (and sadly now), more sun than rain. I was very excited about this shower of rain and rushed out to capture the moment.
