Sparrows have recently come back into my sphere of interest thanks to Matt who produced an amazing series on them. This mini-series was taken along the Yarra river at Southbank, Melbourne. Sparrows were introduced to Australia from Britain and have yet not spread to Western Australia. I remember a huge media alert one year when I was living over there. A sparrow had been spotted flying off a docking ship in a southern port. The populace were out looking for it. Everyone was talking about the scourge! (It was quite a while ago and I don't remember well, but I do recollect the conclusion was something like a farmer shooting it.)
Constructive feedback is your greatest compliment; caring enough to bother saying something ... thanks for visiting!
Such a crisp shot, and a neat composition.
Good thing everyone got right on the invasion. Sparrows might peck you silly, given the chance. One wouldn't want them interfering with the Butcher birds.

I saw a tv program about male sparrows - their dominance shows in the amount of black in their bibs (I hope I'm remembering correctly) - it got me looking more closely at the seemingly 100s who live in my garden LOL!

Sweet photo. They are so numerous here that we take them for granted.
