Running on waterPosted by Helen (Melbourne, Australia) on 2 August 2007 in Animal & Insect. I think these poor misguided Eurasian Coots Fulica atra thought I was going to give them something to eat when I appeared at the shoreline of the lake. Coot is used in Australian slang, I am not sure why. A silly coot usually refers to someone who has done something stupid or poor coot is used for someone who deserves sympathy. If you are interested in more Aussie slang there are many sites on the internet. Beware though ... it is not always polite or reverent enter at your own risk. This one is alphabetical at least. Constructive feedback is your greatest compliment; caring enough to bother saying something ... thanks for visiting! Visit my site - www.warnod.net
