Vandalism 1Posted by Helen (Melbourne, Australia) on 26 July 2007 in Abstract & Conceptual. This series of photos is to register my protest against vandalism and to advocate Multiculturalism. The photos are of a series of glass panels displaying information about immigrant nations from A-Z that were recently damaged by a vandal armed with a sledgehammer. This important tribute to immigrants was part of a redevelopment of the Sandridge Bridge over the Yarra in Melbourne City. You can see a part of one panel that was spared in yesterday's post. Dimitrios from ATHENS, GreeceAustralia, USA, Germany and many more countries have flourished thanks to the hard labour of imigranTs from the rest of the world. This is a fact that should be RECOGNIZED BY EVERYONE. The world is at a mess becaouce some nations consider them superior to others, this path leads only to oblivion! 26 Jul 2007 6:16am Behrooz from Tehran, IranGreat idea! I respect your effort. Thank you. 26 Jul 2007 6:40am Kaushal from Groningen, NetherlandsWow, I totally support your idea. 26 Jul 2007 8:17am Jen from Alpharetta, United StatesHow sad and horrible that someone had to ruin something so wonderful...thank you for sharing Helen, Excellent shot too 26 Jul 2007 1:45pm amy from Rocky Mountain House, CanadaConversely (and I'm not condoning or supporting the vandalism) the guy with the sledgehammer is very angry about something and not brave enough to come forward in a constructive manner. An act of vandalism, whether a statement or just an act of stupidity, is the coward's way. And one way to get people's attention is through communication... which you have done very well here Helen. Very well!!! 26 Jul 2007 2:36pm Rahul from Kuala Lumpur, MalaysiaLovely Helen and i am with you. An act of vandalism is just stupidity and does no good to anyone out there. If you are angry with something please feel free to knock your head on a rock rather than throwing rocks at other's property. Its just insane act of frustrated mind and soul. You are doing brilliant in this series Helen. 26 Jul 2007 5:51pm Richard_Irwin from Belper, United KingdomGood protest Helen. I'm glad you are bringing attention to the stupidity of the mindless fool who smashed the panels. 26 Jul 2007 9:48pm Matt Trujillo Photography from Portland, United StatesAmy stole my words.
