Vandalism 1

Posted by Helen (Melbourne, Australia) on 26 July 2007 in Abstract & Conceptual.

This series of photos is to register my protest against vandalism and to advocate Multiculturalism.

The photos are of a series of glass panels displaying information about immigrant nations from A-Z that were recently damaged by a vandal armed with a sledgehammer. This important tribute to immigrants was part of a redevelopment of the Sandridge Bridge over the Yarra in Melbourne City.

You can see a part of one panel that was spared in yesterday's post.

Australia, USA, Germany and many more countries have flourished thanks to the hard labour of imigranTs from the rest of the world. This is a fact that should be RECOGNIZED BY EVERYONE. The world is at a mess becaouce some nations consider them superior to others, this path leads only to oblivion!

Conversely (and I'm not condoning or supporting the vandalism) the guy with the sledgehammer is very angry about something and not brave enough to come forward in a constructive manner. An act of vandalism, whether a statement or just an act of stupidity, is the coward's way. And one way to get people's attention is through communication... which you have done very well here Helen. Very well!!!

Lovely Helen and i am with you. An act of vandalism is just stupidity and does no good to anyone out there. If you are angry with something please feel free to knock your head on a rock rather than throwing rocks at other's property. Its just insane act of frustrated mind and soul.

You are doing brilliant in this series Helen.

Good protest Helen. I'm glad you are bringing attention to the stupidity of the mindless fool who smashed the panels.
