Places only dreamed or imagined ... #6Posted by Helen (Melbourne, Australia) on 11 February 2007 in Architecture and Portfolio. Sunset at U Bein bridge, Amarapura. At 1.2kms long U Bein bridge is the longest teak bridge in the world. It is nearly 200 years old and in good condition, with only a short section replaced with concrete pillars. Technical note: Just a slight rotate to straighten up the bridge on this one. Constructive feedback is your greatest compliment; caring enough to bother saying something ... thanks for visiting! purelysnow from Chengdu, ChinaWow, that's an awesome shot. It definitely fits into the "places only dreamed or imagined" category. Did you try walking on this bridge? 11 Feb 2007 5:20am @purelysnow: I did. I arrived in the late afternoon, went for a walk along the bridge, then took a boat out onto the water to capture the sun setting. Bronnie from Christchurch, New ZealandAmazing colours and reflections on the water rippling gently. That's a long bridge, and although it's really solid (obviously or it wouldn't have stayed there) it doesn't look that way! 11 Feb 2007 6:38am Fred from Easton PA, United StatesWhat a shot ! Just the trees on the horizon combined with the sun reflecting in the water would be a wonderful photo in itself but you managed to get so many different elements into one image that it's just breathtakeing ! I really think this one should be framed and displayed on a wall. 11 Feb 2007 6:50am @Fred: Gosh Fred thanks. Craiger from Vacaville, California, United StatesWow! Stunning to say the least! A Holliwood art director could not do a better job. Absolutely excellent composition all the way around! You have combined each visual element with balance, rhythm, and proportion in a most exellent manor. Very well done Helen! 11 Feb 2007 9:17am @Craiger: Thanks. It took a few shots before I got this right. I'm glad you can't see all the duds! I was a bit panicky as the sun was going down so quickly. Well done. I love it so much. 19 Jun 2007 10:07am Jocelyn from Massachusetts, United StatesYou have such beautiful artwork here, Helen. This is my favorite looking through so far. You have so much going on here. I wonder what the story is of the people walking. The lines, the reflections, color, background and far background, patterns. It is all so beautiful. Nice job. 14 Jul 2009 3:27am |
