Duckus Roasticum à la orangusPosted by Helen (Melbourne, Australia) on 30 January 2007 in Animal & Insect and Portfolio. Impressed by the endeavours of our own bird stalker extraordinaire Matt Trujillo, I set forth on my normal lake-walking route to try my hand at bird photography. After spending a frustratingly prolonged amount of time crashing through bullrushes and frightening couples strolling along the lakeside, I managed to acquire this amazing photo of a duck. Constructive feedback is your greatest compliment; caring enough to bother saying something ... thanks for visiting! Visit my site - www.warnod.net

Matt Trujillo Photography from Portland, United StatesA beautifully framed shot of a remarkably attractive (and intelligent looking) animal. I particularly like the framing. It feels like I'm standing in the water. (You weren't standing in the water, were you? If so, this might account for a bit of the duck's elusive nature.) I don't own literature on the ducks in your neck of the woods, but this specimen looks like it may also be venomous, so do be careful when preparing the orange sauce. Keep this up, and you'll have to write something on your "About" page. Cheers. 30 Jan 2007 5:49am Sidonie from Sydney, AustraliaThey're only venomous if they bite you, not when you bite them (like snakes). Didn't know the ducks smiled in Melbourne; the swans only frown in Canberra - in fact, they are what Matt would call 'dour'. You didn't do any special 'wavymotion editing' did you? 30 Jan 2007 6:16am @Sidonie: :-) Thanks for the humour. No, this an 'as is' photo, apart from a slight crop. Manuela Photography from Hainburg (near Frankfurt/Main), GermanyThe distorted water reflections are amazing, especially being of natural kind! 30 Jan 2007 11:02am Feroze from Bangalore, IndiaI love the duck's expression and the way the greens flow into your photograph. Do you have more pictures of the duck? Would love to see other perspectives. 30 Jan 2007 11:59am Anne from White Rock, CanadaThis was well worth the chase Helen. Lovely picture. I love the reflections in the water. Didn't even know that ducks could be venomous. Wow! 30 Jan 2007 12:13pm benjamin from Singaporemajestic duck! there isnt anything not to like here. esp the ripples it left behind it. congrats on the results of your expedition=) 30 Jan 2007 2:08pm Jen from United StatesIncredible shot, the framing and colors are wonderful. Thank you for braving the wilds to get this to share! : ) 30 Jan 2007 2:10pm Craiger from Vacaville, California, United StatesWow! That is an amazing reflection! Absolutely beautiful! 30 Jan 2007 3:08pm Darren from JapanMan this absolutely awesome. Love the details and the reflection is just amazing. As far as colours go you could send this to a colour therapy class and show them how things are done. 30 Jan 2007 3:09pm Fred from Easton PA, United StatesThe water is so reflective it looks as if it's a pool of mercury . 30 Jan 2007 4:36pm Damon Schreiber from Toronto, CanadaWonderful! Truly the end made the journey worthwhile. 30 Jan 2007 8:32pm Chris Sullivan from Melbourne, AustraliaBeautifully framed - as if the duck is living in the world of reflections (no wonder they're so hard to photograph). Colours are supurb, excellent work! 30 Jan 2007 9:50pm Martine Lapointe from Québec, CanadaA wow! Beautiful and very clear! Beautifuls movements in the water. 31 Jan 2007 4:12am Paige Mills from Columbia, South Carolina, United StatesSuperb image, clarity & reflections!
