Nat ShrinePosted by Helen (Melbourne, Australia) on 26 January 2007 in Lifestyle & Culture and Portfolio. Although the Burmese are Buddhists they build shrines to land spirits they call Nat. They make daily offerings of food, incense and flowers at the shrines to placate these "guardian" Nat because they displaced them by building their houses, monasteries or by planting rice and other crops on the land . Natural framing with the trees AND the reflection. Great eye to have caught this one! 26 Jan 2007 3:26pm Visual from Warwick, United StatesWonderful Shot! Has the Pirates of the Caribbean feel...well if the hut was covered. Either way....It is a wonderful shot. 26 Jan 2007 8:58pm Carol from TurkeyI should've posted a comment before because I really like this shot. The darkness of the foreground and the excellent lighting around the shrine - I like it a lot. 26 Jan 2007 9:19pm Chris Sullivan from Melbourne, AustraliaBeautifully shot, brilliant atmosphere - approaching the shrine from the lake - out of the darkness and into the light.
