I have a love/hate relationship with this image.
One minute I love the contast of colours and textures and the next minute they look garish and the subject seems blaaah.
I'll let you make up your own mind.

I'll have to side with your doubting side; a bit less saturation, and some more balancing between light and dark (though technically difficult with an older version of PS) would enhance this shot, making it look more natural to me. Cool bird, though!
