red proboscis monkeyPosted by Helen (Melbourne, Australia) on 4 December 2006 in Animal & Insect. This as another of those incredibly lucky photographic moments. Whilst walking through Bako National Park, Sarawak I literally stumbled upon a large male Red Proboscis monkey sitting on the ground drinking from a small stream. He froze and shifted to show me his back and long white tail (which I later discovered was a warning show). Mind you at around 72cm and 23 kgs, I froze too. I had never seen anything quite so ugly! Both genders have the large, fleshy noses, but the nose of the male is much, much larger. He was with a family group, so I spent a very sweaty 20 min taking photos of members of the family group in the trees before they moved off into the jungle. Constructive feedback is your greatest compliment; caring enough to bother saying something ... thanks for visiting! Visit my site - www.warnod.net
